A nightmare, terrible danger.
If I could only remember,
I could take precautions,
Make a plan.
But waking makes the details and plot disappear.
The fear stays vivid.
The night nurse brings the pink bundle
With the blue eyes, open eyes
Burning bright,
Dispelling the phantoms
In the forest of my night
For now.
What is this fearful symmetry?
It's past and future
Stretching away on either side
Of the blue eyes, open eyes.
A fragile link, a strong bond.
So small, so huge, so forever.
